What is Telementoring?
Telementoring aims to bring a new perspective to surgery under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Fatih Şendağ. Prof. Dr. Şendağ, who has been providing training for years, has frequently encountered concerns from doctors who hesitate to perform endoscopic surgery due to worries such as "What if I intervene in the wrong place?" or "What if I damage the ureter?" To address these concerns, he initiated this service to help doctors avoid these issues and confidently engage in endoscopic surgery. Furthermore, for difficult cases where unexpected complications may arise, he has often been invited by his colleagues to assist as an observer during surgery. To provide this service globally, he established the Endo-Academy Telementoring service, allowing doctors to receive online mentorship from Prof. Dr. Fatih Şendağ, regardless of their location, especially when facing challenging cases or when they need guidance during surgery.
How Does Telementoring Work?
For doctors who wish to receive telementoring, the process is as follows:
-
The doctor contacts Endo-Academy to provide information about the case and to schedule a joint calendar with Prof. Dr. Fatih Şendağ.
-
After determining a suitable date and time, telementoring equipment is sent to the doctor with installation instructions via courier.
-
The equipment is set up before the surgery. Prof. Dr. Fatih Şendağ can see the surgical screen remotely and communicate with the doctor.
-
During the surgery, Prof. Dr. Fatih Şendağ provides guidance whenever needed to ensure the surgery is completed comfortably and successfully.
Participant Requirements:
- The operating room where the surgery will be performed must have adequate technical and equipment capabilities.
- Doctors who have previously participated in any Endo-Academy program will pay a rental fee for the technical infrastructure.
- Those who have not participated in an Endo-Academy program will be charged an additional fee.
- The doctor must sign the Endo-Academy Agreement.
- The doctor must obtain permission from their institution to receive telementoring services.
